If you’re in pursuit of connection, there is one thing you must understand is that you have to be self-aware. Self-awareness is the key to everything, but for the overwhelming majority of us being conscious and connected is more the exception than the rule; being disconnected from our experience, cut off from our emotions and don’t have access to their gold, therefore be less fertile and likely to connect.
For those who are disconnected from ourselves and are missing connection, missing making closer and deeper connections and you have the motivation and integrity to do the self-work you need to do to get connected within yourself, you're on the path. Once you get connected within yourself, all is possible. Without self-awareness, deeper connection and intimacy will continue to elude you, forever.
What is self-awareness and why is it necessary to connect?
You must be able to share your experience, your truth in an honest and real way, whatever you might be thinking, feeling or wanting, or anything else, at any given moment in time.
Everything we’ve been talking about for the last several weeks, i.e. setting boundaries between “me’ and “you,” acting as separate autonomous entities, build a bridge of understanding that makes them an, ‘us;’ giving and receiving feedback, three relationships in one relationships and the four cornerstones of any healthy, nourishing and intimate relationship: respect, trust, acceptance and understanding; as well as, disrespect, mistrust, (conditional) acceptance and not understanding, all require a high level of self-awareness, self-development, self-work and self-growth.
