Few things are more tantalizing than sexual attraction. Excitement takes over like a tornado.
Our interest is piqued. There is an infusion of energy. We kick into another gear. Our perception gets distorted, and we don’t know that our perception is off.
If that’s the case, we’re toast, because we lose sight of what we’re missing, that is the heart of the matter – connection.

I’ve seen hundreds of people who’ve gotten into relationships that were “attraction-driven,” most of which end up in a heap of disillusionment and regret, and as if they were doomed from the beginning.
The mindful practice is whenever you’re attracted to someone is, being aware of the attraction, feeling it in your body, and to enjoy the experience before acting or jumping to any conclusions about the other person or relationship you have, or want to have, with them. The practice will help you safeguard against getting into situations or relationships that leave you shocked and dismayed and wondering, “How did this happen?”
I hope I don’t scare you away from ever feeling attraction again, but I do want to leave with this quote from RD Laing, who knew a lot about what happens when were turned on and our imagination ignites, who said, “Real bodily excitement mixed with fantasy holds for many a fascination mixed with horror.”
Yes! Rely on the connections you make and the intimacy you create for sustenance.
